General and Management

What type of tournaments can I create on this platform?

We currently support the classic format most used in the community: Swiss Rounds + Top Cut at the end.

  • For 8–15 players: Top 4
  • For 16 or more players: Top 8

When creating the tournament, simply activate the "Play TOP after swiss rounds" option and the system will automatically apply the cut according to the number of participants.

How do I create a new tournament?

It's very easy:

  1. From the Home page, click on "New Tournament" (or use the management button if you have permissions).
  2. Complete the details: tournament name, date/time, format, description, and activate the Top Cut option if desired.
  3. Save and the system will take you to the player registration screen.

Done! The system will handle automatic pairings once you start Round 1.

How do players register for my tournament?

Currently, the organizer can add players manually from the "Players" section. We will soon enable the option to share a link so that duelists can register themselves by sending their COSSY ID and Deck.

Does it work for online tournaments or only in-person?

It is mainly designed to manage in-person tournaments at shops or clubs, but it also works perfectly for online tournaments (via Dueling Book, EDOPro, etc.). You decide where the duels will be played; the system handles the logistical management: registrations, pairings, standings, and Top Cut.

Is there support for banlists or specific formats?

For now, we do not automatically validate decks. You can create tournaments for any format: current TCG, OCG, Speed Duel, Edison, Goat, etc. Just indicate it clearly in the tournament name when creating it.

Swiss System and Rounds

How do Swiss rounds work?

In each round, the system automatically pairs players with a similar record (for example, 2-0 vs 2-0, 1-1 vs 1-1, etc.). The system avoids repeated duels so that you always play against someone different.

The number of rounds is automatically adjusted according to the number of players:

  • 4 - 8 players: 3 rounds
  • 9 - 16 players: 4 rounds
  • 17 - 32 players: 5 rounds
What is a "BYE"?

If there is an odd number of players, the system automatically assigns a "BYE" to a player. This counts as an automatic win (3 points) to prevent someone from not playing.

Does the system report results automatically?

Results are entered manually by the organizer at the corresponding table. Once all duels are reported, the button to generate the next round or proceed to the Top Cut will be automatically enabled.

Standings and Tiebreakers

Can I see the live standings / positions?

Yes! On the page of each active tournament you will find the "Standings Table" button, which is updated in real-time after each completed round.

What is OMW% and why is it important?

The Opponent Match Win Percentage (OMW%) measures the strength of your opponents. If two players have the same points, the one whose opponents have won more matches will be higher in the table, as it demonstrates having faced more difficult challenges.

Top Cut and Extras

What is the Top Cut and how is the cut defined?

After the Swiss rounds, the best players advance to direct playoffs (single elimination):

  • 8–15 registered players → Top 4
  • 16 or more → Top 8

The system automatically generates the bracket and pairings for the Top based on the final position in the Swiss table.
